This is the fourth year that we have run the MANTIS Fantasy Squash Festival at Nottingham and for a fourth year running we are hosting a PSA Challenger 5 alongside the multitude of amateur events.

In the past we have seen some fantastic squash and some climatic moments and this year the stage is set to once again welcome the PSA players back to Nottingham.

The final of the 2012 event between Karim Ali Fathi and Zahed Mohamed was over 100 minutes of brutal squash with Fathi taking the title 3-2.

Zahed Mohamed’s return to Nottingham for last year’s event resulted in an early exit with local hero Chris Fuller defeating him in a shock first round encounter. Fuller then went on to beat both Richie Fallowsand the two seed Farhan Zaman before being comprehensively beaten by fellow Nottingham Club player Declan James 3-1 in the final. It was the first time that a local player had ever made the final and to have two made for a great atmosphere on the Nottingham show court.

James and Fuller return this year but both have difficult draws. Fuller faces ex World Number 56 Oliver Pett in the first round with the winner taking on James in the quarters. Charles Sharpe’s the 2011 winner returns for the first time as number 1 seed for this year’s event but will as always at Nottingham have to contend with both tough local opposition and the local crowd at Fortress Nottingham!
